WHO WERE THE AMELAKITES?

Who were the amalakites

In a few rabbinical translations, Amalek is etymologized as Am lak, 'a group who lick (blood)',but most experts respect the beginning to be obscure.

Amalek (Hebrew: /mlk/)עֲמָלֵק, 'Ămālēq, Arabic:The Hebrew Bible describes 'Amlq) as a nation that fought the Israelites hard. The nation's founder, a grandson of Esau, may be referred to by the name "Amalek."the Amalekites, his heirs;or the areas they occupied in Amalek's territories.

                  THEIR IDENTITY

They were the descendants of Amalek , the grandson of Esau.
Genesis 36 :15-16 says Here we saw that Amalek was part of the descendants of Esau who became the various leaders of their clans, these were the sons Esau's Eldest son Eliphaz:-
                  Omar
                  Zepho
                  Kenaz
                  Korah
                  Gatam and Amalek.
So the Amelakites were the descendants of Amalek, the son of Eliphaz, the grand son of of Esau, who was one of the leaders in Edom.

    WHERE DID THEY LIVED?

                 Numbers 13:29

The Bible says they lived in the Negev (south Canaan).
"The Amalekites lived in the Negev, and the Hittites ,Jebusites ,and Amorites lived in the hill country, the Canaanite lived along the coast of the Mediterranean sea and along the Jordan valley.

The Negev was a a desert and semi desert region in the southern Israel. the origin of the word Negev is from a Hebrew root word, who h means Dry or wipe dry..

Then they turn back and came to Enmishpat ( Now called Kadesh ) and conquered all the territories of the amalekite and also the Amorites living in Hazazon Tamar "

" While the people of Israel were still at Raphidim, the warriors of Amalek  attacked them, moses commanded Joshua , Choose some men to go out and fight the Army of the Amalek for us.

Tomorrow , I will stand at the top  of the hill, holding the staff of God in my hand.
So Joshua did what Moses had commanded and fought the Army of Amalek.

Meanwhile , moses , Aaron , and Hur climbed to the top of the mountain nearby. As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand , the Israelite had the advantage but whenever he dropped his hands , the Amalekites gained the advantage.

Moses' arms soon  became  so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on,  then they stood on each side of moses , holding up his hand . so his hands held steady until sunset.
As a result , Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalekin battle .
"

They Defeated The Disobedient Israelite (Numbers 14:41-45)

" But moses said , why are you now disobeying the lords orders to return to the wilderness?. It won't work.
Do not go up into the land now, you will only be crushed by your Enemies because the lord is not with you.

When you  face the Amalekites and Canaanites in battle, you will be slaughtered .
The Lord will abandon you because you have abandoned the Lord
But the people defiantly push up towards the hill country , even though neither Moses nor the ark of the covenant left the camp.

Then the Amalekites and Canaanites who lived in those hills came down and attacked them and  chased them back as far as Hormah "

They Allied With The Medianites Against Israelites (Judge 6 :3, 33)

" whenever the Israelite planted their crops, marauders from median , Amalek , and the people of the east would attack Israel "
