WHAT IS MEDITATION, IS IT THE SAME WITH PRAYER

            Psalms 25 :4-5

Many believers do come and ask the pastor the meaning of meditation.

Some asked of the differences between meditation and prayers.

Today we are going to look at meditation.

Amen? 

Is meditation the same with prayer?

Can we use them interchangeably or not.

Steps to proper meditation

The word meditation come from two Hebrew root words ::-

Hagan ::- To utter in low sound e.g like the growling of lion or the cooing of doves.

Siach::- To be occupied with -your heart,mind and soul.

Holman's bible dictionary defines meditation as::-the act of,calling to mind something like a bible verses or word of God.

Pondering on it

And coo relating it with your life.

Prayer they say is the pulling into existence or reality what God has already pre-ordained in his will for us.

Isaiah 65:24 When we pray we are not changing Gods mind but pull I g down our blessings.

Meditation fuels prayer and prayer also fuels mediation.

In our text (psalms 25:4-5) David expresses his desire ,wants for guidance. he said teach me show me your ,show me your path.

HOW DO I RECEIVE GOD'S GUIDANCE?

What is meditation, a biblical  iew

By wanting to be guided

His guidance is in his word ,we are just to read the word.

When we are willing to seek him through meditation and prayer, he will give us specific guidance and direction .

Man is so blind and ignorant spiritually, unless enlightened by God,he cannot discern the way of Godliness.

God was telling Joshua,to be courageous after the death of moses. that is ::-

1,  To lead the people to inherit the land

2,   In observing the law given by moses

Joshua 1 verse 8::- keep the book of the law I.e the Pentateuch.

The character is ::- meditate day and night

The prosperity and success will be their portion .

Earthly possessions

The strategy taught are ::-

Be courageous and strong

Obey Gods law

Constantly study and meditate on it

               PSALMS 1:1-2

The psalmist started by station g the happy conditions, the happiness staying away from wicked ,sinful and disobedient a people.

The bible is not saying we should stay away from sinners .

How will we witness Christ to them?

But not to join in imitating their lifestyle or mock the things of God.

 If we want Gods happiness and blessing, our delight must be on ::- 

  Knowing him

  Meditating on his words
