TEXT ::- LUKE 11:9-12
"And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. keep on seeking, and you will find. keep on knocking,and the door will be open onto you.
For everyone who ask,receives. everyone who seeks finds. And everyone who knocks , the door will be open unto him.
You fathers, if your children ask for a fish,do you give them snakes instead? Or if they if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion, of course not."
MATTHEW 7:7
"Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be open unto you."
If God knows everything and is all powerful. the bible says "He is omni potent and omni scient, He is everywhere right?
Why won't he just meet our needs according to his riches in Glory (the earth is the lord's the bible says,And the fullness there of and they that dwell there in .PS 24:1)
The bible also says " He know and numbers the hairs on our head Matthew 10:30.
He determines the numbers of billions of stars in the sky and call them by name PS 147:4
"He counts the stars and call them by name , how great is our God, his power is absolute"
WE DONT PRAY TO INFORM GOD
We can't tell God anything he doesn't know(the all knowing God), prayer is not made so that God can find out our needs,he knows,.
Jesus tells us in Mathew 6:8 ::-
Your father knows what you need ,before you ask him.
So,if we don't pray to inform or impress God ,why then?
WHY THEN DO WE PRAY?
1, WE PRAY BECAUSE PRAYER EXPRESSES OUR TRUST IN GOD, its a means where our heart expresses our trust in him can increase.
The bible says we should pray with faith I.e trust or dependence on God.,God the creator delights in us the creatures trusting him I.e to have a creator/creature relationship.
Praying to him shows we wholeheartedly trust God,his providence,wisdom ,love goodness,power and faithfulness.
Matthew 6 :9 " Our father who art in heaven"
Shows our dependence on God as loving and the who rules the heavenly through.
2. HE WANT US TO LOVE AND HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM.
Prayer brings us into deeper fellowship with God.
2Corinthians 6:1 says "working together with him to advance the kingdom as co- workers delights him"
He could do it alone but we can't do it wiithout him, what a glory he allows us the priviledge of doing it with him.
3, PRAYER BINDS US TO GOD
We tell him what he knows already ,he knows what we need but we are ask to pray and ask, not to inform or impress but to invite God in our business.
To have fellowship
To show our dependence on him
And to grow in the trust of him.
LUKE 11 :9 -13
It says "And so I tell you, Keep asking and you will receive
Keep seeking and you will find
Keep knocking and the door will be open unto you.
Jesus compares us praying to a son asking his father for fish or an egg, he will not give him snake or scorpion. Or a son asking for bread, the father will not give him stone.
If you that are evil, know how to Give good gift.,how much more our heavenly father?
He will give you the holy spirit if you ask him to help you(Amen).
As children look to their father ,So God expect ts us to look to him in our prayers.
CONCLUSION
Prayer is a way for us to communicate with God, our loving Heavenly Father.
When we pray, he always listens to us. You ,your family, and those you pray for can all benefit from daily prayer.
It can also help you learn more about God's plan for you and bring more peace into your life.
PRAISE THE LORD
PRAYER
Father I pray for deeper understanding of you in Jesus name
Help not to ever doubt your existence as the creator of the universe in Jesus name
Help lord to study and go deeper into your word to know you more as a father.
Thank you our loving father for the answered prayer, receive all the praise in Jesus name.
