WHAT ARE NUMBERS IN THE BIBLE?

                           Numbers 25:8

What are numbers in the bible

" In addition ,you must count off seven sabbath years seven sets of seven years, adding up to forty nine years in all"

                Numbers, particularly the number three, four ,seven ,ten ,twelve forty and seventy,often take on a special significance in the bible , for example ::-

1). Number seven indicate completeness and perfection,God used  the seventh day as a day of rest and sent year as a year of rest,God instituted the year of jubilee to take place after the seventh cycle of seven years (Genesis 2:2-3).

 

2).  Number twelve indicates::- that Gods people had twelve tribes in the old testament and twelve apostles in the new testament.

3).  Number forty indicates ::- Genesis 7:12 says 

"The rain continued to fall for forty days and forty night.  Jesus fasted for forty days and night

Moses waited on God on mount Sinai for forty day and  night.

Elijah fasted for forty days and night

4)Chapter 7 -12 of the book of Daniel and the entire book of Revelation contains mysterious numbers such as 144,000 ,1260 and 666, some bible students gives as literal interpretation as possible to these numbers, others are contents to read them symbolically.

   NUMBERS USED AS A LITERARY DEVICE

1,   It was used in poetry ::- psalms 62:11

" God has spoken plainly and I have heard it many times; power O' God belongs to you"

2,   It was used in prophecy ::- Micah 5:5

" And he will be the source of peace,when the Assyrians invade our land, break through our defenses,we will appoint seven rulers to watch over the gate,eight princes will lead us "

3,   In genealogies ::- Mathew 1 :17

1, The Number One (1)

We have one God ::- Deuteronomy 6:4

We have one lord ::-1Corinthians 8:6

We have one spirit ::- 1Corinthians 12:13

We have ,God the father ,God the son ,God the holy spirit as one God ::- john 10:30

We have ,one body , one Christ ,one hope ,one faith and one baptism, one father of human race -Adam ,one flesh in marriage.

We have two ways to choose ,

We have two edged sword

We have two tablets of the law

Two witnesses

Male and female

The animals went two by two into the boat of Noah.

The father ,the son and the holy spirit

The three annual festival in Israel

Jobs three friends

Three fold benediction by the priest

4,   The Number four (4)

The four rivers in Eden

The four winds

The four corners of the earth

The four series in Zacharia's vision

5,   The Number seven (7)

In creation ,that is ,it took seven days

The sabbath on the seventh day

The year of jubilee

The seven lamp stand in revelation

6,   The Number ten (10)

The ten plagues in Egypt

The ten men righteous in Sodom

The ten commandment

The ten virgins in the parable of Jesus

The ten horns and crowns on a beast

7,   The Number twelve (12)

Several twelve in the new Jerusalem

A crown of twelve stars 

The twelve hours of daylight in the bible

The twelve stones from the Jordan river

8,   The Number Forty (40)

King Solomon reigned for forty years

King David reigned for forty years too

Jesus ascended to heaven after forty days

9,   The Number Seventy(70)

Seventy years of Israels exile

Seventy people came to Egypt

There were seventy elders of Israel

The bible taught that we should forgive seventy times seven.

10,   Number thousand (1000)

One thousand years ,the millennium

A thousand years is like a day before the lord of host.

WHAT ARE THE MYSTERIOUS NUMBERS IN THE BIBLE?

Six hundred and sixty six ::- 666 known as the mark of the beast.

One thousand ,two hundred  and sixty days ::- 1260 

Forty two months ::- Rev 11: 2

1, Revelation 13:5

" And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and to continue forty and two months"

Suitable to the character of the reign of Antichrist .He is also limited as a person and people that he shall entirely subject his will and power.

It will only be those that their names are not in the book of life.

I pray that our names will be found in the book of life in Jesus name(Amen).

2, Revelation 12 :6

" And the woman fled into the wilderness, where God had prepared a place to care for her  1,260 days."

3, Revelation 14:1-3 

"Then I saw a lamb standing on mount Zion, and with him were 144,000 who had his name and his fathers name written on their foreheads.

And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of a mighty ocean waves or the rolling of cloud thunder. It was like the sound of many harpists playing together.

This great choir sang a wonderful new song in front of the throne of God and before the four living beings, and the twenty four elders .  No one could learn this songs except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth."

Here we saw the numbers mentioned in the verses above:-

Four living beings before God

Twenty four (24) elders

And  144,000 numbers of redeemed people.
