WHAT IS BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT?

What is blasphemy against the holy spirit

                

  Matthew 12 31-32

"So I tell you ,every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven,except blasphemy against the Holy spirit,which will never be forgiven."

"Anyone who speaks against the son of man ,can be forgiven,but anyone who speaks against the Holy spirit, which will never be forgiven"

Jesus had an encounter with the Pharisees ,where they accused him of getting his miraculous powers from the devil(Satan) for the miracles he performed.

Jesus went on to tell them that::-

A house divided against itself cannot           stand.

 Satan cannot cast out Satan it will be         fighting against himself.

 Jesus canceled their accusations with         his statement

He went on to tell them that any insult against him will be forgiven but the one against the holy spirit will not be forgiven.

One special area of concern that in Jesus' statement is blasphemy against the holy spirit Which cannot be forgiven.

       CAN GOD FORGIVE SIN?

You know the answer is yes,because God is all powerful and he is also the sovereign God,which has power over everything he creates.

Exodus 34:7b says " I forgive iniquity ,rebellion and  sins but do not excuse the guilty.

So the answer to the question asked again is yes,,God can forgive sin .he says he forgives  ::- 

                  Iniquity

                  Rebellion

                  And sins ,praise the lord(Amen)

Blasphemy against the holy spirit is when attributes the work of the holy spirit to the devil. So be careful of your statements especially about the miracles performed by many men of God.

The bible makes it clear that God ,for the sake of Christ forgives every sin for which we repent but since it is the holy spirit who gives life and teaches us about Christ.

The sin against the holy spirit involves ::-

 1,  Consciously and willfully resisting the efforts of the holy spirit in his effort to draw you  to Christ.

2,   It is also known as the sin of unbelief

3,   God eventually give up on you, when you continue to resist him.

 GOD GIVES UP ON PERSISTENT UNBELIEVE

      

  1 Samuel 28:15-18

¹⁵ Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?”

“I am in great distress,” Saul said. “The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has departed from me. He no longer answersme, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do.”

¹⁶ Samuel said, “Why do you consult me, now that the Lord has departed from you and become your enemy? 

¹⁷ The Lord has done what he predicted through me. The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors—to David.

¹⁸ Because you did not obey the Lord or carry out his fierce wrath against the Amalekites, the Lord has done this to you today."

Here God almighty left king Saul,because of his consistent disobedience and disbelief in what God said. God had left Saul and had become his enemy,he could not reveal him self to Saul in ::-

      Dreams 

     By the prophets

     Other means

So Saul called prophet Samuel to help him do something about it but the prophet told him that, since God had left him,he has nothing to do.

                     JEREMIAH 7 :28 - 29

²⁸ Therefore say to them, ‘This is the nation that has not obeyed the Lord its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.

²⁹ “‘Cut off your hair and throw it away; take up a lament on the barren heights, for the Lord has rejected and abandoned this .generation that is under his wrath.

God really gives up on  persistent un believe either::-

      1,  Individual

      2,  Family

      3,  Community

      4,   Or as a nation

    WHAT IS THE WAY OUT?

Look to the holy spirit for pardon and forgiveness .Stop our unbelieve, accept Christ as our personal lord and Saviour,believe the word of God and be free from blasphemous life.

John 3:5 says Jesus replied ,I assure you, No one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and of the spirit.

                        CONCLUSION

10:29 – slandering the Spirit of grace, persistently sinning despite full knowledge and a lack of desire to turn from one's sins);sinning against the spirit (Matt.12:31–32 – rejecting the testimony of the Holy Spirit and attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to the Devil. Additionally, it implies slandering the Holy Spirit and misusing his name.
