WHAT WERE THE KEY PLACES IN THE BOOK OF GENESIS THAT CAPTIVATES?

Key places in the book of genesis

What do you think were the most important places in the book of Genesis, that are several important places but these are the one's I feel are the most Important for me: 

   God created the universe and the earth .then he made man and woman, giving them a home in a beautiful garden. unfortunately, Adam and Eve disobeyed God and were banished from the garden Genesis 3:23.

" So the lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken"

Life in the garde was like living in heaven, everything was perfect and if Adam and Eve had obeyed God , they could ha e lived forever, but after disobeying, Adam and Eve no longer deserves paradise and God told them to leave.

We do not have to stay seperated, however  God is preparing a place for us (new earth) as an eternal paradise for his people(Revelation 21 :22)

" I did not see a temple in the city, because the lord God almighty and the lamb are its temple "

The picture of walls made of jewel reveals that the new Jerusalem will be a place of purity and durability,it will last forever.

THE MOUNTAIN OF ARARAT

    Adam and Eve's sin brought sin into human race. Years later sin had run rampant and God decided to destroy the earth with a great flood ,but Noah ,his family and two of  each anals were save d in the ark. When the flood reduced the ark rested on the mountain of Ararat( Genesis 8:4)

" And on the seventeenth day of the seventh months , the ark came to rest on the mountain of Ararat."

                            BABEL

Babel people never learn. Again  sin abounded and the people led to build a huge tower as an evidence of their Greatness, clearly they had no thought of God , as punishment ,God scattered the people by giving them different languages, found in ::-

Genesis 11:8-9 .

" So the lord scattered them from there all over the earth, and they stopped building the city, that is why it was called Babel, be a use there the lord confused the language of the whole world; from there the lord scattered them from the face of the whole earth" 

   The tower of Babel , the plain between the tigris and the Euphrates Ru we off red a perfect location. The tower of Babel was likely a great human achievement, a wonder of the world. but it was a monument to themselves rather than God, we may build monuments to ourselves (expensive clothes, big houses, fancy cars and important jobs)to call attention to our achievement. 

 THE UR OF THE CHALDEANS

Abram the descendant of Shem and father of the Hebrew nation ,was born in the great city. Genesis 11 : 27-29

" this is the account of Terahs family line, Terah became the father of Abram,Nah or , and Ha ran, and Haran became the father of Lot.

While his father Terah was still Alive ha ran died in Ur ,And Abram and Nahor both married,the name of Abram wife was sarai and the name of Nahor s wife was Milk ah"

                            HARRAN

Terah, Abram ,Lot and Sara I left Ur and followed the fertile land of the Euphrates river headed towards the land of Canaan,along the way they settled in a valley of Harran for a while.

it is seen in Genesis 11 :31

" Terah took his son Abram,his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter in law Sarai, the wife of his son. Abram and together they swt out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan but when they came to Harran, they settled there"

         Why did they stop Halfway?

It may have been the Health

                                     Climate

                                     Or even fear

But it did not change the calling of Abram. Genesis 12 :1

" The Lord had said to Abram,Go from your country ,your people ,and your fathers household to the land I will show you"

                        BEERSHEBA

They well at Beersheba was a source of conflict between Abraham and King Abimelek,and later became a sign of oath they swore there. Genesis21 :31 ::-

" So that place was called Beersheba ,because the two men swore an oath there"

        Beersheba is the southernmost city of Israel, lay on the edge of the vast desert that stretched as far as Egypt to the southwest and mount Sinai on the south. Beersheba was also the home of Isaac ,Abraham's son.

                            HEBRON

Father Abraham moved on  to Hebron where he put down his deepest root. Genesis 13 :18 ::-

" So Abram wen to live near the great mande tree at heron,where he pitched his tents. There he built an alter to the lord" Abraham,Isaac and Jacob all lived there and were buried there.

                          SHECHEM

                     GENESIS 12 :1-2

" They lord had said to Abraham,Go from your country, your people and your fathers household ,to the land I will show you.I will make you into a greater nation, and I will bless you.

I will make you name great and you will be a blessing"

             God promised to bless Abram and make him great and but God had one condition. Abraham had to what God wanted him to do. It meant ::-

   1, Leaving his home and friends

   2, traveling to a new place God will show        him.

Abraham obeyed walking from his home and he was blessed.

So Abram ,Lot ,and sarai traveled to the land of Canaan and settled near a city called Shechem. Genesis 12 :6

                      

Hebrew 11:9 ::- " By faith he(Abraham)made his home in the promise land like a stranger in the foreign country;he lived in tent as did Isaac and Jacob,who were heirs with him of the promise land"
