WHO WAS EBED MELEK, DID HE REALLY SAVE PROPHET ELIJAH FROM THE CISTERN?

Who was Ebed Melek, did he really save prophet Jeremiah from the cistern?

" My lord the king, these men have acted wickedly in all they have done  to Jeremiah the prophet. They have thrown him onto a cistern where he will starve to death when there is no longer any bread in the city.

Then the King commands Ebed melek the cushite " take thirty (30) men from here with you and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the cistern before he dies.

So Ebed melek took the men with him and went to the room under the treasury in the palace. He took some old rags and worn out clothes from there and let them down the rope to Jeremiah in the cistern.

Ebed melek the cushite  said to Jeremiah " put these old rags and worn out clothes under your Arms to pad the rope" Jeremiah did so.

And they pulled him out with the rope and lifted him out of the cistern and Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guards"

Ebed melek  feared God more than the people.

He alone , Among the palace officials stood up against murder plot.

His obedience could have cost him his life. Because he obeyed , his life was spared when Jerusalem fell.

You can either go along with people or speak for God when someone is treated unkindly or unjustly. And when you are treated unjustly , be very thankful if God sent an Obed melek on your way to help you.

1,   Where was he from ::- He was from Ethiopia (Africa) but he lived in the southern kingdom of Judah

2,   Occupation ::- He was a palace official in Judah.

3,   Contemporaries ::-  Jeremiah , Zedekiah , and Baruch

During  one of the blackest moment in Jeremiahs life, God shows his power by sending help from an unexpected source.

Ebed melek a high ranking palace officer risk his life and career in the court of king Zedekiah to help prophet Jeremiah.

Ebed melek represents many heroes in the bible that did well but were not really known like that .may God gives us the grace to help in any condition in Jesus name (Amen)

" I will save you, you will not fall by any sword ,but will escape with your life , because you trust in me ,declared the lord"

       Ebed melek had risked his life to save Gods prophet Jeremiah(Jeremiah 38:9-13).  When the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem ,God protected Ever melek from the Babylonians.

God has special reward always for his faithful servants but not everyone will receive them in his his life.

 HIS  STRENGTH AND                                ACCOMPLISHMENTS

1 ,  He took Jeremiahs case before king Zedekiah and secured his rescue.

2,   He planned the removal of prophet Jeremiah from the cistern that he was placed in.

3,   He received Gods guarantee of protection when the Babylonians come to conquer Jerusalem.

        LESSONS FROM HIS LIFE

1,   Where's we serve can be an avenue for us to serve  God there.

2,   We can trust God and act inspire of our fear or anxiety.

3,   God does not forget those who take a stand for his sake.

4,   Our bold actions amidst evil can be like a deterrence to evil.

                  CONCLUSION

Ebed meleks response shows a radical and reckless pursuits for justice . 

in whatever place we find ourselves ,we should continually ask God to help us see and respond to need like Ebed melek.

It is better to fear and act anyway than 

to live with the did appointment of knowing you did not do anything when you are suppose to.
