WHO WAS THE GIANT GOLIATH          IN THE BIBLE ,THAT WAS DEFEATED BY SHEPHERD BOY?

Who was Goliath in the I let, defeated by the shepherd boy?

Goliath story is told in 1 Samuel 17

The philistine gathered their forces and assembled at Sokoh in Judah.

Saul and the Israelite assembled and camped at the valley of Elah.

Both of them occupied the hills with the valley in between them

A champion name Goliath who was from Gath, came and challenged the Israelites (he stood and shouted to the rank of Israelites).

He asked them to choose a man to fight him,anyone that wins, his side wins.

David fought him and defeated him.this was the response of David to Goliath when he was challenging the Armies of the lord and Israel at large.

" who is this uncircumcised philistine,that he should defy the Armies of the living God"

      Most onlookers saw only a giant,David however , a mortal man defying almighty God .Goliath was a target too big to miss.He knew he will not be alone when he fights with him.He looked at his situation  on Gods points of view.

Viewing impossible task from Gods 

point of view helps us put giant problems in perpective.when we see clearly we can fight more effectively.

 Goliath was a giant with an attitude ,as champion of philistine, he immobilizes the entire Army of Israelite by challenging o e of them in a duel with him. he made them forget they have an ultimate champion in the lord their God.

It took the old shepherd boy named David to remind them all that they were the Army of the most high God.

WHAT WERE HIS WEAKNESSES AND MISTAKES?

1, He defied the Armies of the most high God

2, He looked down on David and failed to rake him seriously.

3,  He believed in his strength, skills and experience not God.

4,  He was an uncircumcised 

           Goliath was a problem to be faced on his terms but not with his weapon.

  HIS STRENGTH AND                                     ACCOMPLISHMENT

Goliath strength was so obvious(Size armour, arrogance) that others missed his vulnerability.

1,   He was the designated champion of the philistine Army.

2,   He held the entire army of Israel at bay by intimidating them.

3,   He was recognized as a giant of his day.

           David went to battle against Goliath with two weapons he knew he could rely on::-

  1,   His trust in God

  2,   His shepherd slings and atones

When others looked at Goliath, they saw opponent too powerful to defeat,when Davis looked at Goliath , he saw a target too big to miss. praise God.

David had armour to match that of Goliath, but it was invisible. he was spiritually equipped (Ephesians 4:12 -18)

Gods weapon are not as obvious, but they never fail us .how much of your spiritual weapon are wearing today?

Goliath

1,   Strength often at times conceals  weaknesses ,no problem that doesn't have a solution in our life.

2,   God will never ,never be mocked

3,   God transforms strength into weaknesses and weaknesses into strength.

4,   God always equips those who trust him with spiritual Arm our.
