HOW CAN WE DESCRIBE THE LOVE OF THE FATHER TO HIS SON(S)

What is the love of the father to rhesons

JOHN 15:16

There are three perspective of this topic ::-

1. The literal love of a father to his son(s) e.g Jacob and Joseph.

2. The love of God the father to God the son John 15:9 " As the father loved me, I too have love you".

3. The love of God to his son(s) 1 John 4:9 " in this, the love of God was made manifest among us, God sent his only son into the world so that we might live through Him".

INTRODUCTION

Love is one of the greatest motivators
There are people that did something for love.
Positive
Mother facing lions and tigers because of love.
Father dying for their families (why are men dying more than women?)
Exposure
Demonic Activities
Negative
Romeo and Juliet (Real story of them in Italy 1303 they died because of romantic and sensual love).

Some loose their job, some behave like fools, killing a lover, burning cars. How are we using the motivation gotten from love as Christians.
When someone loves you, it gives you hope and strength.
That's is why, acceptance is a basic need of human.

TYPES OF LOVE IN THE BIBLE

Eros (sensual or romantic love) - 1Cor 7:8-9, Song of Solomon

Philia (Brotherly love that unites believers) John 13:35 "Love one another by this everyone will know you are my disciples.

Storge (Familiar love) people in your family - Romans 12:10 (Strong love between Mary and Martha, Jacob and his son, Noah and his wife).
Agape (God love's for human kind) - John 3:16 ( the unconditional love of God)
God's love ( AGAPE) is the most life changing force in the universe.

Why is that so?

Your sins were forgiven
It changes your direction to heaven instead of hell.
It grow stronger and stronger over the year Because your relationship with him is deeper through: Prayers, bible study, fasting, meditation.

Until it dominants every aspect of human lives
It consumes our thoughts.
It consumes our behaviors
It motivates people to be eager and hope to be with God.

DISCUSSION

HOW DID GOD DEMONSTRATES HIS GREATEST LOVE TO HUMAN KIND?

Romans 5:8 - While We Were Sinners, Christ Died For Us.

God sent Jesus to die for us, not because we were good enough, but because He loved us.
Whenever were are in debuts of his love , remember He loved us before, we thought of loving him back. Praise the Lord - Amen

Ephesians 1:5 - He Predestined Us For Adoption To Something Through Christ.

Predestined mean marked before hand
It's a way of saying salvation is God's work not our doings.
In His infinite love, God adopted us as his sons.
Through Jesus sacrifice, it brought into family and made us theirs with Jesus (Romans 8:17).
In romans law adopted children have the same right as biological children. Even if we were slaves.

Paul used this to show our strong relationship with God now.
For more 1 John 3:1

WHEN GOD CORRECTS HIS CHILD, DOES IT MEANS HE NO LONGER LOVDS HIM/HER?

Hebrew 12:11 - when He disciplines He does it to produce harvest of righteous and peace. When we are exposed to discipline it is painful, it is unpleasant but we are trained by it.
Some responded differently to discipline:-
We accept it with resignation.

With pity, thinking we don't deserve it.
Angrily and resentful towards God for it.

BUT HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO ACCEPT IT?

We can accept it gratefully, thanking God for the experience.
Job 5:17:- No, but because God want to bless you.
Eliphaz was corrected by making the statement
It is a blessing to be disciplined by God when we are wrong
It is discipline that draws us back into the sheepfold.

Job case was not as a result of God's discipline
But temptation and trials coming from Satan.
Eliphaz view - discipline (Pain, Suffering, Hardship)
Helps us to grow.
It help us come back to our senses.
Proverbs 12:1 says "Whosoever loves disciplines, loves knowledge; But whosoever hates correction is stupid.

Romans 6:1-2 :- the book of Romans Emphatically said God forbid
If God loves to forgive, why not give him more to forgive
If forgive is guaranteed, do we have freedom to sin much more?
Paul forcefully said, No or God forbid
Our attitude of willful sin, shows our lack of understanding of the seriousness of sin.
God's forgiveness doesn't make sin less serious
The availability of God's mercy must not become an excuse for careless living an moral decay.

Hebrew 10:26 :- if we deliberately sin, after the knowledge of truth, no sacrifice for sin is left .
When we deliberately sin, we rejects God's most precious gift i.e the saving faith.
This warning was given to christians tempted to leave Christianity for Judaism and it applies to us today.

The point is, there's no other accepted sacrifice for sin, than the death of Christ
If we continue to sin willingly, it means we are rejecting His sacrifice for our sin, the sacrifice no longer speakers for us.
(It just like the sin of blasphemy against the Holy spirit)
There's no other way accepted through Christ.

CONCLUSION

God is under no obligation to save (was it necessary for Christ to die for us?).
He cloud have left us the way He did the Fallon angles without way of salvation.
But instead showed His great love to us from spiritual death to eternal life
